The Nov. 11, 2023 Remembrance Day Art Installation

In this poignant Remembrance Day installation, three painted panels converge in a triangular formation, weaving a narrative that transcends the historical boundaries of the First and Second World Wars. The imagery and symbolism pay homage to the sombre echoes of those dark days, yet the installation extends its reach to resonate with the contemporary turmoil witnessed in our world.

Each panel is a painting of remembrance, capturing the shared human experience of enduring the horrors of war. As we reflect on the sacrifices made during the world wars, the installation serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing struggles people across the globe face. It draws attention to the profound impact of conflict on humanity, reaching beyond the historical lens to encompass the present.

In the shadow of the current atrocities, from the harrowing events in Gaza to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the persistent civil wars in regions such as Africa, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Yemen, this installation prompts contemplation. It compels us to confront the universal consequences of war, urging viewers to recognize the resilience and sacrifices of individuals from diverse corners of the world.

This triangular arrangement symbolizes interconnectedness, emphasizing that the echoes of war reverberate universally. The panels serve as historical artifacts and mirrors reflecting the collective endurance and shared responsibility to strive for peace in adversity.

As we stand before this installation, let us acknowledge the collective strength to endure, the universal call for peace, and the imperative to remember the profound human cost of conflict.
